Our dear friends, Shannon and Mason Lee, brought us to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores - just down the street from our beach house.
This is the
bootie exhibit. There are four fine
specimens here.
The boardwalk took us through the marsh and we saw ALL kinds of little crabs. Yum!
And Elle had to climb on everything, as usual. Thanks Elle, for inspecting this railing.
Huntie and Brody were the best of friends. Brody has already told
Huntie he plans to marry her.
Huntie told him she can't be his bride, but she can be his friend. So mature,
lol. As you can see, she let him down softly, and they are indeed still friends.
Michael is 5!
Huntie is 8!
Elle is scavenging for "fruit naps."
Oh, Kevin spotted a BEAR! No wait. That's just a stump.
They have banana spiders in North Carolina too! Lucky them. :P
Kevin's standing on a stump in the middle of the marsh. He said the stump was pretty much floating around in there and wobbling the entire time he stood on it. Hmmm, too bad we can't even see the stump in the pic. We'll just say he's walking on marsh water.
Mr. Mason,
Cambrie, Michael,
Huntie and Brody check out the horseshoe crabs.
The kids got to touch the stingrays too . . .
. . . and kiss the gators.
lol,
jk.
Ahh, Ellie loves her momma.
We're all a little crabby.
We got to watch a really cool demonstration about sea turtles. Did you know sea turtles have a spine that is fused to their shells? Very interesting.
Ellie was very interested too . . .
. . . in her daddy.
We got the touch the sea turtle too! Then, use LOTS of hand sanitizer.
We all loved the Hardbottom Ledge Exhibit. I mean, who doesn't. The whole aquarium was pretty cool.
